I wanted to volunteer in a medical role at camp because, as a former cancer survivor, I experienced firsthand how meaningful compassionate care can be during difficult times. The nurses who supported me made a lasting impact, not just medically but emotionally as well. That experience inspired me to pursue nursing and to give back by supporting others in a similar way, helping campers feel safe, understood, and cared for while they enjoy their camp experience.
I see my support impacting campers by allowing them to focus on having fun, building friendships, and creating lasting memories, while myself and other volunteers manage their health needs.

One moment that reminded me why this role is so important was during the Mr. Lube carnival. Despite the cold and rainy weather, we were still able to create a safe, welcoming, and fun environment for the campers. Seeing them engaged, happy, and supported in those less-than-ideal conditions really reinforced how meaningful this role is.
